In April 2019, I had the privilege of working with Backto30 to have my eyebrows microbladed. I searched for a full year to find a place, PEOPLE, I trusted. When I found Backto30, I was elated. I researched and chatted with them and we ultimately decided to work together. We formed a plan and scheduled the appointment.
Why Did I Want Microblading?
In May 2017, I developed a zinc deficiency and lost 3/4 of my hair over my entire body, including my eyebrows. It took a toll on my body and self confidence. I am on camera most of each day due to my job as a Home Decor influencer on Instagram. I was tired of always checking to see if I “had eyebrows on” and revolving my schedule around makeup. So I went in search for a microblading artist in January 2018. I never found any studio at that time with great reviews, or at least, I wasn’t comfortable with the negative reviews. So I hesitated and researched for a full year. And I’m so glad I did.
Before Microblading:
The Microblading Process
The staff at Backto30 made me feel so comfortable and confident in their abilities that I was actually never super nervous. I was mostly just excited. Finally- I can just get up each day and do my job without overthinking my face.
The first appointment was great. I was numbed with gel in a quiet, relaxing room and got to hang out there for about 30 minutes while the gel did it’s job. I explained exactly what I wanted and Anna listened. She took her time and great care in mapping out my brows to precisely what I wanted, making sure we were on the same page and I was 100% happy with the process.
When it was time, I never felt any pain. I just heard a scraping sound which was weird, but fine. I knew going into it that the first time my brows would be darker. I loved them from the get go. I knew I wanted more of my natural arch incorporated at the second appointment, so I let her know.
Brow Aftercare & Healing
Aftercare was a snap! Right after the procedure, it felt like a sunburn for a couple days. I avoided water for the first 24 hours, then cleansed 3 times a day with Bactine spray on a cotton pad and then put on an ointment provided by Backto30. I did this for 10-12 days, then reduced to 1-2x a day for 6 weeks. I never missed a day. I expected the peeling, scabbing, and itchiness everyone says comes along with microblading, but I must’ve been one of the lucky ones, because I never had any of that.
When I went back at the end of 6 weeks, I needed my arch added in, so we did that. I did the same 6 week care that I did previously. But this time I noticed my microblading was fading into a bluish color quickly. Fading all over and I started panicking. I texted my brow girl and she assured me that was normal. I trusted her, it’s just that I didn’t even experience that the first 6 weeks.
So, I went in for another appointment (not usually needed) and Anna darkened them a bit during the touch up with a color that was more of my hair color and it did the job! I couldn’t be happier! I did only a few more weeks of after care and I was done.
Almost a Year Later: My Thoughts
Almost a year in and I don’t need a touch up yet. Yay! According to Backto30, microblading typically lasts 1-3 years. There are many factors that play into what you will need: skin texture, skin type (oily, dry, etc), daily skin care routine, etc. I get asked often if I would/will so this again and my answer is always a resounding, YES! I will keep up my microblading as long as I possibly and financially can. I absolutely love saving the time every day and I love the way it looks. It has given me confidence I haven’t had in a long time and for ME, it is 100% worth the investment.
Recommendation
I highly recommend Backto30 for microblading. They are a professional, knowledgeable company that has flown in A -List physicians from the west coast to train their staff in all procedures they do in their facilities. If you’re looking for microblading or non-invasive cosmetic procedures and are local to the upstate of South Carolina, where their facilities are located, please check them out!
